Eliminate the Sunday Scaries with the Ultimate Sunday
Sunday gets a bad rap when it comes to days of the week. If you are not familiar with the "Sunday Scaries" it is a popular term that is associated with having anxiety on Sunday, more specifically Sunday afternoon, in preparation for the work week or week ahead. However, you can use this day of the week to your advantage. Create your ultimate Sunday so you can have a relaxing and productive day to avoid "the scaries".
The Outline
My typical Sunday routine is not always the same. I try to stick with a basic outline to ensure that I am set up for my week ahead. My essential list includes the following:
1. Go to Your Happy Place
Go to your happy place. My happy place is the beach, because it is a place where I can sit and be calm. Pick your ultimate place. I either listen to music or a podcast, read a book, journal, or just walk when I go to my happy place.
I knew this was something I wanted to implement into my life as I struggled with the aspect of just going somewhere alone to sit and reflect. Once I just dove in and did it once… I was hooked. It truly makes my Sunday and the preparation to my week so much better and less chaotic and stressful.
Since I live in Florida, the place I go to reflect is the beach. I wake up early probably around 5:30 am, get ready, and drive 20 minutes to the beach to catch the sunrise.
2. Start the Day Off Right
You of course have to continue the ultimate Sunday, with a perfect breakfast. Perfect breakfast can be whatever breakfast makes you happy. Currently, I am obsessed with these blackberry and ricotta waffles…I like to call them my “Sunday Waffles”. Feel free to make whatever makes you happy or whatever you are feeling at the moment!

3. Plan Your Week
After breakfast, in order to make you life less stressful and chaotic during the week. Get out your planner and todo list and figure out what your week is going to look like. It may seem a little meticulous, however, I feel that color coding the different areas in your life and in your planner can help you visualize what is going to weigh on your week. It is essential for my process but you can plan however you see fit and whatever works for your style.
4. Knock Out Your Essential Tasks
After I spend time planning my week, then I usually look at my schedule and see which tasks I can spend time on today. I usually set aside 2 hours on essential tasks and I wasn’t always this way. It took me awhile to get to the point where I was content with just working on essential tasks and not get caught in trying to complete everything on my weekly todo list before the week starts.
5. Skincare and Self Care
After you spend time being productive with planing out your week, you then need to spend time on being productive in your self care. Sunday is normally my face mask day, full shower day, etc. I also spend self care time by journaling and reading for more time than I do during the week.
Having these 5 tasks apart of your Sunday routine, will give you the best of both worlds…productivity and relaxation!
